The Catholic Women’s League (CWL) Philippines Incorporated, a nationwide Catholic organization for women founded in 1919 by the late Michael O’Doherty, Archbishop of Manila will be celebrating its Centennial Year in 2019.
The Diocese of Legazpi under its fold joined the nationwide launching of the celebrations last August 4 at the Chancery, St. Gregory the Great Cathedral. This was followed by the Leadership Regional Cluster Seminar last September 1 and 2 at the Peñafrancia Resort in Carolina Naga City.
CWL Bicol also participated in a nationwide simultaneous tree planting of 100 trees in Barangay Nasisi in Ligao City on September 8 which coincided with Mama Mary’s birthday. This prompted the organization to dedicate the activity in her honor by praying the Rosary and singing Marian Songs before planting endemic trees, fruit-bearing trees, and ornamental plants.
On October 13, CWL will have its Loyalty Day at the Chancery Hall of St. Gregory the Great Cathedral in Legazpi City
Series of activities are still in line before the celebration culminates on May 25, 2019.
CWL is a charitable, religious, socio-economic, civic, nonpartisan non-profit organization through which Catholic Women can find a means of growth in Faith and have the opportunity for organized work and concerted effort in the exercise of their vocation and apostolate. The League is specially dedicated and consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the maternal patronage of Mary, Mother of God and Mother of the Church under the virtues of ‘charity, work, and loyalty’.
