While the rest of Bicolandia celebrate Asia’s largest devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary through the Peñafrancia Festival in Naga City, residents of Sitio Ubaliw in barangay Ponso in Polangui where ‘Ina’ and the ‘Divino Rostro’ are also patrons had their own version of Traslacion and Fluvial Procession on September 8.
The procession at around 2 p.m. started from the Sitio’s Chapel going to the riverbanks of Ponso River where two makeshift rafts were waiting respectively for the images of Ina, the Blessed Virgin of Peñafrancia and Divino Rostro, the Holy Face of Jesus.
Voyadores or devotees of Ina who were mostly seen in yellow shirts during the activity pulled the ropes attached to the rafts until they reached the end part of the river designated for the fluvial procession. The rest of the crowd watched and waived from the sides of the river in veneration of the images
The images were brought back to the chapel where a Holy Mass was celebrated by Fr. Tonypet Ballares.
Meanwhile, Nueva Caceres Archbishop Rolando Tirona stressed in his homily during the Mass after the Traslacion in Naga City that vocations start in the family especially when children experience the goodness of their parents.
