The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warns that Bicol Region will experience El Nino this September.
According to PAGASA Deputy Administrator for Operations and Services Dr. Landrico Dalida, Jr. the probability was raised at 65% and that they are monitoring areas in Bicol where the dry spell is already taking place.
Dalida said that they are working with Local Government Units (LGU) and the Department of Agriculture on formulating measures to prevent the severity of its impact on the agriculture sector, particularly on animals and rice fields.
In Catanduanes, several LGUs have already declared towns under a state of calamity due to the extreme heat as an effect of the lack of rainfall.
Dalida added that they will have cloud seeding operations in coordination with the Philippine Airforce. (Reports from Radyo Veritas Legazpi)
