Following the killings in barangays Panoypoy, Del Rosario and Magogoon in Camalig, Albay, Rev. Fr. Marlon Bron parish priest of St Lawrence Quasi Parish led his parishioners in blessing one of the murder sites.

Fr. Bron also asked residents in the area to conduct a Perdon Penitential Procession and “pray for the souls of those who were killed”.

According to Chief of Public Affairs of the 2nd Infantry Division of the Philippine Army, Captain Joash Pramis, among those killed were two unarmed soldiers. They were shot dead while in a motorcycle by believed to be members of the New People’s Army on August 21 in Barangay Panoypoy.

Five days before the said shooting incident, two civilians were also killed in Camalig.

Meanwhile, several checkpoints were set up to ensure the safety of the public and to lock down possible escape routes of the rebel suspects. (N. Cahinde)
