LEGAZPI CITY – PHIVOLCS Director Renato Solidum warns that lowering the alert level of Mayon Volcano to Alert Level 2 may be premature as phreatic eruptions may still be possible.
According to Solidium, continuous assessments are being conducted to monitor the volcano. He added that there are pre-eruption indicators observed similar to its most recent eruption in January.
Solidium however, confirmed that volcanic activity is on a down trend and no magmatic eruptions were observed, but still advised public against entering the 6-kilometer permanent danger zone. (JT Bernal)
