LEGAZPI CITY – Six hundred seventy-four (674) applicants were hired during the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) job fair on May 1 and 2 in Legazpi City.
According to DOLE Regional Office 5, 166 were hired on the spot and 508 needed to complete requirements to push through with their employment with respective companies.
“Among the job vacancies offered are production operators (in) the semiconductor electronics industry requiring low skills. Likewise, skilled and common laborers, and drivers for the construction industry, dining and kitchen staff for hotels and restaurants, among others are highly sought-after positions by employers. Positions requiring high skills such as (an) outbound telemarketer, civil/ project engineers, restaurant managers were also offered,” DOLE Regional Director Exequiel R. Sarcauga said.
Sarcauga added that there are still 14, 180 job vacancies from 132 employers locally and overseas waiting to be filled.
Meanwhile, the job fair was also participated by other government agencies, the Philippine Navy, Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
